Dr. Kermit Gosnell of Philadelphia was found guilty of multiple cases of murder. He's supposed to be a gynecologist and obstetrition, but was not certified for either. Gosnell has given many abortions, but it has been past the 20th week, and he aborted the live babies by cutting the unbilical cord with a scissors. Gosnell could get the death penalty. He is also guilty of killing a 41 year old mother, because he gave her too much anesthetic. Everyone at Gosnell's practice were frauds, and they are pleading guilty as well because they gave out medicine and falsely diagnosed people.

New Dinosaur Bones Found in Canada
Researchers uncovered a new species of dinosaur about the size of a big dog with a helmet like head in Canada. They were able to identify if because of previous fossils found. It most likely used its 2-inch skull to headbutt other dinosaurs in defence, and it was a vegitarian. Paleontologists say it waas about six feet long and weighed, on average, almost ninety pounds. Not many of these kind of dinosaurs have been found, so it was hard to identify it. Paleontologists think that most little dinosaurs' bones decompose, so they are hard to identify.

The Price for Another Kid
An American woman in Britain with three adopted kids wanted to adopt another, but was denied. She then bought sperm from a company in Denmark to artifially inseminate her fourteen year old daughter. After many failed attempts, the daughter finally got pregnant, only to have a miscarriage. The mother wanted to have a fourth child to raise herself. The daughter, "A," said she thought, "If I do this... maybe she will love me more." The young girl ended up giving birth at the age of seventeen to a boy. The hospital nurses noticced that the mother was acting very strange, not letting the girl breastfeed, and officers were called to investigate. The children were taken in to foster care and the mother is spending five years in jail.

11 People Kidnapped by Taliban
On Monday, April 22nd, a helicopter carrying engineers near Kabul, Afghanistan had to land unexpectedly due to poor weather, and the people got kidnapped by the Taliban. The engineers were supposed to go to an American base, but had to land in Logar Province, which is run by the Taliban. An official in Afghanistan says, "It's a lot of people to take hostage...It gives the Taliban bargaining chips." People are worried that the engineers might be taken to Pakistan, which was about 20 minutes from Logar Province. The Taliban sent a message to media saying, "US-NATO Chopper falls into hands of Mujahedeen, all passangers detained." They have taken full responsibility of the kidnapping but there has been no word on what will happen to the engineers.

Monkeys Learning to Talk?
Scientists have found a species of monkey in Ethiopia that make noises similar to the vocals of humans. Geladas, a close specias to the baboon, make a noise that sounds something like a yodel and a baby babbling. They supposedly share the same speaking techniques as humans do, and scientists are thinking they are revealing more about human speech origins. Most monkeys don't have the speaking structure as humans, even though they have the same facial movements as we do. Doctor Thore Bergman says "These primates can do the complex mouth movement and vocalise at the same time."

Paranormal Activity 13: Prank or Real Thing?
After play practice on April 1st, Kelly Leonard was getting ready to leave school when she heard a noise down the hall from her locker. Taking advice from all the scary movies she has seen, she went to the noise, which turned out to be Courtney Demmin shutting her locker. They then heard another noise coming from the lunch room. They went in there because they were hungry and wanted cheese fries, but saw something that made them lose their appetite. Standing in the corner of the lunch room, was a little girl holding a human head. The little girl crawled towards them....
The next morning, no one knows where the two girls went. As usual, the cameras are checked, but strangly, nothing unusual was shown on them. To this day, the girls have not shown up and no one knows where they are....

Death Tole Rises
Studies have shown that if you don't have too many friends or you don't keep in touch with your family when you get older, you have a higher risk of dying earlier. A survey was given to about 6,500 men and women above the age of 50 asking about loneliness levels from early 40s to 50s. The researchers established that loneliness has a huge affect on a person's health and wellbeing. Loneliness and social isolation is not the direct cause of death, but it does influence.

More Violence in Iraq
For more than a decade, there has been severe violence in Iraq. March 19th, a bomb was placed in the car of a Ministry of Finance officials car, killing him and others. The 10th anniversary of an attack on Iraq led by Americans is coming up. There have been many attacks in Iraq recently, which includes over 50 dead and nearly 200 injured. Officials don't know who is causing the attacks, but they have the same patterns as Al Qaeda: suicide car bombings, bombs attached to cars, and random silent shooting at innocent bystanders. Even a bus full of small children who were going to school.

Proceed with Caution
Chicago is getting hit with a huge snow storm, causing over 1,000 flights and schools to cancel. The storm is expected to distribute almost 10 inches of snow. Flights have gone from 15 minute delays to cancelations, Southwest Airlines and Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. From 9:00 a.m. to about midnight, the snow is expected to drop about one and a half inches hourly. Almost 300 plow trucks have been out on the streets since early this morning, sanding and plowing, trying to catch up with the snow. The snow is expected to stop early Wednesday morning, about 1:00 a.m. and then the plows will be doing the side roads as well, tryiing to get everything clear.

Breast Cancer Seen in Younger Women
Studies show that the number is younger women, ages 25 to 39, who get breast cancer has incresed in the last 30 years. It has only increased slightly but researchers say the increase is considerably significant. Most women will be scared because of this increase, even though they don't necessarily have anything to feel. The risk is higher for women getting breast if it runs in the family. Doctors and researchers tell women to go see a doctor if they feel any pain or lumps, but just because it doesn't run in the family, doesn't mean a woman can't get it.

More benefits for military partners
Even though housing for same-sex partners in the military will still not be offered, more benefits will be. The Pentagon got rid of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law about 17 months ago. Now, the spouses of openly gay military fighters are allowed to visit the fighters in the hospital, get military I.D. cards, and more, but the U.S. Law is limiting rights. It will take time, but eventually, same-sex partners will have the same benefits as all other military fighters. Officials think this will be August of this year. President Obama is very happy about this announcement because he wants progress on LGTB rights.

Play-Doh Becoming Gluten-Free
More and more young children are becoming gluten-free or are allergic to gluten and schools are working on getting more gluten-free lunch and snack options. Parents are becoming concerned with Play-Doh because it's not gluten-free kids are having allergic reactions to it. One of the main ingredients in Play-Doh is wheat however, but companies are working to find other ingredients for it. Preschools are buying gluten-free dough for children to plat with and sales have increased 67% and last year, over 50,000 containers were sold. Kids get rashes as well as bloodshot eyes when playing with gluten Play-Doh, so this new dough will be much better for them.

Economy Going Back Down?
"Think of it as a giant hand holding down the economy," chief economist Tim Hopper at TIAA-CREF says about the economy in the late months of 2012. Since October, the economy's drive has basically stopped improving. The G.D.P. has gone down to 0.1% which is the worst it has been in almost four years. Lawmakers were trying to deside on tax increases and the Government had to limit their spending. The economy is expected to go back up in 2013 because the Congress and White House agreed on taxes and spending for the Government.

House Prices Decreasing
December brought worries to the National Association of Realtors because there was an unusually low amount of houses sold in that month in 2012, even though the year as a whole brought 4.65 million homes sold. For the last five years, realitors were having a hard time selling homes, so with 2012's large amount sold, that will hopefully bring the market back up. There has been low morgage rates and low amounts of supplies to build houses due to expences. Houses already built and on the market keep decreasing in price which makes people buy faster.

Worst flu outbreak since swine flu
Boston has declared this flu season a public health emergency and is trying to give as many free flu vaccines as they can to people who haven't had them yet. They have had at least 700 cases of the flu compared to last year's which was only about 70. Hospitals have actually been limiting visiters and trying to get them out of the waiting rooms as soon as possible. Even nursing homes are requesting no visiters so they senior citizens don't have the risk of getting the flu. They have higher risks of getting pneumonia and staff don't want to risk it. almost anywhere you go now there is hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes because of the outbreaks.

No more truce?
Taliban commander, Mullah Nazir, was killed by American missiles Wednesday, December 2nd in South Waziristan. Officials are saying that this ally could turn even worse than it already is because Nazir was looking to make a truce with Islamabad. Because of the peace treaty between Pakistan and Islamabad, they were going to focus on mainly attacking Afghanistan, but hte U.S. who is allied with Islamabad, nearly destroyed that. "They will be furious. This shows they are no longer on the same page with the Americans," says Saifullah Khan Mehsud, an executive director for Fata. (Federally Administered Tribal Areas)
